Kowloon Tsai Swimming Pool (1964-2020). This beautiful swimming pool (my favourite public pool) vanishes in 2020 just like every good things in this city. Swimming here was like time travel. Paying HK$17 with Octopus at the entrance and the architecture would immediately took me to Midcentury Hong Kong. And after a few laps in the main pool I might even think that Josephine Siao or Connie Chan were swimming along. What a good deal!
There was nothing wrong (structurally or functionally) about this pool and the changing area in my opinion is far better than pools half or 1/5 its age. But to some China construction companies and government officials, what is better than spending a few hundred-millions dollars taxpayers’ money to take this pool down and build a new one.
I hope its calligraphy signboard will stay and not replaced by ugly digital crap.
